Volleyball: Bonnabel rallies past East Jeff, Ursuline gets back on track

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Thursday, Sept. 27

It is rivalry week in Jefferson Parish on the East Bank as Bonnabel and East Jefferson are set to square off Friday night at Joe Yenni Stadium in football.

The rivalry week extends to volleyball as well.

In an outstanding match, Bonnabel rallied from two sets down to outlast East Jefferson 24-26, 10-25, 25-20, 25-22, 15-10 in Kenner.

After starting the season 0-6, the Bruins (3-9) have now won three of their last four matches.

Bonnabel returns to action today at 4:30 p.m. at Grace King in a District 7-1 contest. The loss snapped a four-match win streak for the Warriors (12-5). East Jefferson returns to action next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Riverdale in a District 7-II contest.

In a District 9-III contest, Ursuline handled Sci Academy 25-1, 25-4, 25-3.

Ursuline was led by Abby Cancienne with six kills while Kennedy Nicholas had four kills. Megan Pulizzano produced 11 assists and Annabel Beatmann had five digs.

The Lions (11-11) snapped a two-match losing streak. Ursuline will host John F. Kennedy next Monday at 4 p.m. in a District 9-III contest. Sci Academy (3-3) returns to district play Monday as well, hosting De La Salle at 5:30 p.m.
