Area Prep Volleyball Report for Wednesday, August 31

Ben Franklin has been a consistently outstanding program under Jodee Pulizzano.

In 2021, the Falcons reached the Division II semifinals.

In her 31 years as head coach, Pulizzano has led Ben Franklin to six state championships and a trio of state runner-up finishes.

The Falcons are always a threat to go deep into the playoffs.

Ben Franklin opened its 2022 season with a 25-18, 25-9, 25-11 victory over Madison Prep on the lakefront Tuesday.

Aubrey Muirhead led Ben Franklin with 11 kills and five blocks while Cori Staes had 11 kills and eight digs. Kat Khondkar produced 15 assists and four aces and Lilly Mayes dished up 14 assists.

Ben Franklin will host St. Scholastica at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Archbishop Chapelle reached the Division I quarterfinals a year ago as the Chipmunks have become a factor statewide.

That trend should continue in 2022.

Chapelle opened its season Tuesday with an impressive road victory at Vandebilt Catholic, winning 25-21, 21-25, 25-12, 25-20.

Megan LaCour led the Chipmunks with 16 kills, Isabelle McCann served five aces, Caroline Russo dished up 22 assists and Colleen O’Connor had 16 digs.

Chapelle returns to action on September 7 at Hahnville at 5:30 p.m.
