Belle Chasse captured the District 7-II championship, downing Academy of Our Lady 25-17, 25-15, 25-15 at home Thursday.
Nya St. Cyr led the way with 10 kills, seven blocks and three aces while Jerne Colin had seven kills, 16 assists, 13 digs and four blocks. Ellen Rehrig added seven kill and 13 assists, Tylen Bell had three kills and nine digs and Cacie Petrovich finished with nine digs to pace the Cardinals.
Belle Chasse (29-5, 5-0), fifth in the most recent Division II power ratings, has won seven straight matches and will play its final district match at Higgins next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The Penguins (23-8, 4-1) will host Terrebonne Monday at 5:30 p.m.
Sixth in the power ratings, AOL still has a district game left with Booker T. Washington and could still share the district title with a win but that would require a Belle Chasse loss to Higgins.

Asyia Blount had 17 kills, 10 digs, five aces and five blocks while Anyla Dennison finished with eight kills, seven digs and four blocks. Ashley Metayer had 12 assists and served three aces and Giovanna Butts finished with 12 digs.
The Cougars (21-9, 3-2), 15th in the Division II power ratings, will travel to Ellender Monday at 4 p.m. Karr (13-12, 3-3) will conclude its regular season next Thursday at Livingston Collegiate at 5 p.m.
Having won her 600th career game earlier this week, Mount Carmel Academy coach April Hagadone has had a good week.
Her Cubs have had a good year.
Currently No. 1 in the Division I power rankings, Mount Carmel rolled over West Jefferson 25-3, 25-2, 25-5 Thursday at home in a District 7-I contest in Lakeview.
It was a day for the sophomores of MCA.
Sophomore Giselle Estrada led the attack with 11 kills and an ace, sophomore Hallie Leaumont nine kills and a block and sophomore Julia Savois finished with seven kills and sophomore Emma Richey had 17 assists. Junior Nola Sevin had 21 digs and three assists. Senior Ellen Brown had 21 assists and served three aces.
The Cubs (32-4, 5-0) have won seven straight matches. MCA will play at Grace King next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in another district matchup.
The Buccaneers (8-14, 1-4) will travel to John Ehret next Tuesday at 4:30 in district play.
Kenner Discovery downed Thomas Jefferson 25-20, 26-24, 25-23 at home in its “Purple Out” game to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Thursday.
