NEW ORLEANS – The Archbishop Hannan Hawks withstood an early deficit in a tough road match.

Rallying back to a 3-1 win (22-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-19), Hannan showed their quality against the Ben Franklin Falcons on Monday evening at Ben Franklin.

The match was broadcast live on Crescent City Sports.

The Hawks trailed for near the entirety of the opening set and had every challenge answered by Ben Franklin. However, faster starts in the next three sets and a strong attack from middle blocker Rylee Morris helped jolt the road side to victory.

Morris had 15 kills including nine in the third set and she hit .313 for the match. Morris also recorded six total blocks on the evening.

“Rylee is our go-to for sure. She hits the ball hard and comes in quick. She is a leader on this team,” said Hawks head coach Rebekka Bonnaffee.

The Hawks started fast in the second set with a 5-0 lead behind a competitive service rotation from Keira Morise. Also, Carleigh Breaux registered five kills to lead a Hawks attack that had 15 kills as a team in the second set.

In the deciding set, Archbishop Hannan again clicked off five of the first six points in their favor. However, the Falcons kept rallying back and led at one point at 15-14. Archbishop Hannan asserted control back in their favor behind Sophia Bonnaffee who have several crucial kills down the stretch.

Bonnaffee registered a team-high 17 kills on the night and had five of them in the fourth set.

“We did start slow but I’m proud of these girls for pushing through and not letting one mistake shut them down,” said Coach Bonnaffee. “Each set we got a little better and we were able to make it happen tonight.”

Sarah Kirsch had 52 assists and Avery Boudreaux finished with 19 digs. Claire Buisson (16), Bonnaffee (14) and Morise (13) also landed in double figures in digs for the Hawks.

Ben Franklin was led offensively by Grace Delpit who earned the last two points of the opening set and recorded six kills in that stretch. For the night, Delpit finished with 15 kills. Delpit was also in on four blocks.
