Volleyball: AOL, Belle Chasse win to set up showdown; Dominican, Country Day also victorious Tuesday
Area Prep Volleyball Report for Wednesday, Oct. 19
Make it eight straight wins for Academy of Our Lady.
The Penguins easily defeated Higgins 25-10, 25-10, 25-6 in a District 7-II match Tuesday in Marrero.
Rehanna Franklin led the attack with seven kills and five digs while Ella Treadway served five aces.
AOL (23-7, 4-0) continues to share the district lead with Belle Chasse and the two league powers face a showdown Thursday at Belle Chasse at 5:30 p.m.
The Hurricanes (5-10, 1-3) return to district play Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at Booker T. Washington.
Belle Chasse (28-5, 4-0) set up the showdown for the district championship with Academy of Our Lady with an easy 25-16, 25-10, 25-12 win over Helen Cox. The win was the sixth straight for the Cardinals.
Nya St. Cyr led the way with 16 kills, three aces and two blocks, Jerne Colin had 10 kills, nine digs and four aces, Ellen Rehrig had nine kills and 12 assists and Cacie Petrovich had 10 digs for Belle Chasse.
Dominican won its District 7-1 match at West Jefferson 25-6, 25-5, 25-6.
Anne Hardouin had 11 kills while Oneil Haddad added eight kills. Gabby Marcello served five aces and dished up 30 assists and Aurore Tortorich had nine digs to lead the way.
Dominican (29-3, 3-1) returns to district play Wednesday, hosting Archbishop Chapelle at 5:30 p.m.
The Buccaneers (8-13, 1-3) will travel to Mount Carmel Academy at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in a district matchup.
Country Day downed St. Martin’s Episcopal 25-16, 25-16, 25-20 at home in a District 9-V contest.
Ellie Schneider led the attack with 15 kills.
The Cajuns (21-8, 3-0) travel to Assumption Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
The Saints (9-11, 2-2) will entertain M.L. King Charter Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in a district contest.
