Volleyball: Academy of Our Lady wins own tourney

Academy of Our Lady proved to be a gracious but tough host over the weekend.

The Penguins won their own volleyball tournament, downing McGehee in the title match 26-24, 23-25, 15-11 in a very close match.

Kylie Howell had 12 kills, Abbie Robichaux finished with 30 assists, Essence Wren had 14 digs, Destinee Williams produced seven blocks and Ella Treadway served two aces.

AOL also posted wins over John Curtis Christian, Crescent City Christian and Cabrini in reaching the title match.

McGehee had wins over Haynes Academy and Ursuline Academy.

Cabrini had victories over Crescent City Christian and John Curtis Christian.

The Patriots defeated Crescent City Christian.

Haynes had a victory over De La Salle.

Ursuline Academy had a victory over De La Salle.

Academy of Our Lady (14-3), which has now won six straight matches, will host Country Day today at 4:30 p.m.
