NEW ORLEANS – For the second time in his career, New Orleans Privateers senior Troy Green has swept the Southland and Louisiana Sports Writers Association Player of the Week awards. The LSWA named him their Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.

The St. Rose native averaged 23.0 points per game and pulled down 7.5 rebounds per game over two contests against local rivals Dillard and Nicholls last week.

Against the Bleu Devils, the senior went 9-for-15 from the floor scoring 20 points and pulling down six rebounds to go with his three assists in just 24 minutes of action.

Against Southland preseason favorite Nicholls, Green then added season-highs in points with 26 and rebounds with nine. During the contest, he sank 15-of-16 from the charity stripe. The made free throw total was the most by a Southland student-athlete this season and tied for the sixth-most by a Privateer in a single game in program history.

The 6-foot-3 guard joins backcourt mate Derek St. Hilaire – who was named the LSWA Player of the Month for November – as UNO players honored by the LWSA this season. St. Hilaire was also the last Privateer to earn LSWA Player of the Week Honors, earning the distinction just shy of one year ago.

Green also swept the weekly awards last season after his performance in the BSN Dolphin Classic (25.3 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 62% fg.)

The Privateers return to action on Thursday night when both squads host Southeastern. The women are scheduled tipoff at 5:00 p.m. with the men scheduled to tipoff at 7:00 p.m. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+. Tickets are available at UNOPrivateers.com/tickets or by calling (504) 280-GAME.
