Statement from New Orleans Vice President of Athletics & Recreation Tim Duncan:

Coach Mark Slessinger and I met to discuss the expectations we have for our men’s basketball program and how we can reach our shared goals.

We agreed that this season fell below the standard we expect for the men’s basketball program. Coach Slessinger, his staff and I share in the disappointment felt by Privateer Basketball fans.

As the team enters the offseason, we have committed to fully evaluating all facets of the program and ensuring that it has the resources required to consistently compete for Southland Conference championships.

I have tasked Coach Slessinger with making the changes in his program that will lead to better results, and I am hopeful that we will share in the experience of once again raising the trophy as Southland Conference Basketball champions.

I am extremely grateful to our Privateer Scholarship Fund supporters, fans, and alumni for their loyalty. I ask each of you to join me in continuing to support this basketball program and the incredible young men who proudly wear the Silver and Blue.
