UNO men’s basketball adds Rice game Monday, Owls to visit Lakefront Arena in 2021

NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans men’s basketball has added the Rice Owls to its non-conference slate. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday, December 21 at Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston. Rice will visit Lakefront Arena next season.

The Privateers are 0-2 against the Owls all-time but Monday will be the first meeting between the programs since 2013.

Rice is 5-1 this season and has four wins at home. Monday’s game will be featured on and can be watched by visiting We will have the call on NASH ICON 106.1 FM, beginning with the pregame show at 1:45 p.m.

New Orleans was scheduled to face LSU tonight, but the game was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols.

“This will be a great test for us and another quick turnaround in travel and preparation,” said head coach Mark Slessinger. “Rice plays with tremendous tempo and pace. We are excited to add a game to our schedule and I am grateful that our administration has supported our goal to give our student-athletes an opportunity to compete safely.”
