ULM’s Marten garners second SBC Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Award
MONROE, La. – ULM junior forward Courtney Marten has been named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks. The award is voted on by a combination of the conference’s head coaches and media relations personnel.
Marten scored four goals in last week’s two contests to break the school’s single-season goals record. The Collinsville, Illinois, native tallied her eighth goal of the season Thursday in a 3-3 tie at Georgia State. She followed that with a hat trick in a 6-1 win at Coastal Carolina on Sunday, becoming the first player in program history to record multiple hat tricks. With 11 goals in six matches played, Marten leads NCAA Division I with 1.83 goals per game.
It is the third time this season a Warhawk has earned a weekly honor from the SBC. Hailey Hillock earned Defensive Player of the Week honors on Aug. 31 and Marten previously won Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 14.
