Cardinals Also Claim Men’s Title; Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Earns Women’s All-Sports Award

FRISCO, Texas – UIW is the winner of the 2021-22 Southland Conference Commissioner’s Cup, the league announced Tuesday. The Cardinals also finished first in the Men’s All-Sports standings and edged out runner-up Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 90.5 points to 90 in the final standings following the completion of the baseball regular season.

UIW claimed the Men’s All-Sports Award with the football regular-season title and men’s championships at both the Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Cardinals totaled 44 points on the men’s side and finished third in the women’s race with 46.5 points.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi won the Women’s All-Sports Award and collected three titles with a regular-season championship in volleyball and trophies for beach volleyball and women’s cross country. The Islanders finished with a dominant 60 points in the women’s all-sports standings, nine more than second-place McNeese with 51. The Islanders added runner-up finishes for women’s basketball, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s indoor track & field.

Defending Men’s All-Sports Award champion Southeastern finished second behind UIW this year with 40.5 points, winning the men’s golf championship and placing second in the regular-season for football, basketball and baseball.
