NEW ORLEANS — For the second time in four weeks, Xavier University of Louisiana’s Victory Udechi is the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week in women’s basketball.

Udechi — a 5-foot-10 junior forward from Manhattan, N.Y., a graduate of Boys and Girls High School and a transfer from SUNO — had 22 points and 20 rebounds in XULA’s 76-73 overtime home loss Saturday against LSU-Alexandria. Udechi became the first XULA woman since 1996 to grab 20 rebounds in a game and the first since 1990 with 20 points and 20 rebounds in the same game.

Udechi grabbed 14 rebounds in the final 9 1/2 minutes. Through four games Udechi is averaging 12.5 points and 11 rebounds.
