METAIRIE, La. – Louisiana Tech struggled to find its offense in the final day of the Big Easy Classic Sunday at LaSalle Park, falling 3-0 to Central Arkansas.

Tech (1-4) registered only three hits in the game – all singles – and Central Arkansas (3-3) plated three runs on three hits and three errors in the top of the fifth inning to break open a scoreless contest.

Neither team crossed home plate over the first four frames as Tech’s Hannah Koenig and UCA’s Kavia Beaver were in control in the circle.

UCA led the top of the fifth inning off with a single and a walk to put runners on first and second. A single to centerfield plated one run and a second run came across on a pair of throwing errors on the play by the Tech defense.

Two batters later, a single to centerfield scored a third run as the Bears took control of the game.

Tech threatened in the bottom of the sixth when Meghan Robicheaux and Bailey Wright recorded back-to-back singles to bring the top of the order and the tying run to the plate with no outs. However, Beaver struck three straight Tech batters out to stall the threat.

In addition to Robicheaux and Wright, Zoe Hicks registered a hit early in the game.

Koenig (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three in the start. Audrey Pickett worked the final 3.0 innings, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out one.

Tech returns to action Tuesday when it hosts ULM at 5 p.m. at the Ruston Sports Complex.
