UAB three-pointers lead Blazers past Techsters

RUSTON, La. – UAB hit 17 three-pointers and three Blazers scored 20-plus points in a 95-69 win over Louisiana Tech Thursday night at the Thomas Assembly Center.

UAB (24-5, 12-4 C-USA) jumped out to a double digit lead in the first quarter, built a 26-point halftime lead and coasted to the win in the regular season finale for both teams.

Katelynn Thomas scored 25 points, Rachael Childress added 22 points and Deanna Kuzmanic chipped in with 21 points as the Blazers set a single game record for a Tech opponent with 17 three-pointers in 35 attempts.

Kierra Anthony scored 27 points and Grayson Bright tied her season-high with 20 points and added 10 rebounds for her fourth double double of the season. Tech shot 46 percent from the field and outrebounded UAB, but couldn’t overcome the red-hot shooting by the Blazers.

UAB shot 59 percent (10-17) from the field in the first quarter, 87 percent (13-15) from the field in the second quarter and 60 percent (9-15) from the field in the third quarter in building an insurmountable lead.
