Four former local college football players are getting a shot at professional careers from a new outlet.

The Alliance of American Football has signed two former LSU Tigers – Josh Jasper and Colin Jeter – as well as two ex-Tulane Green Wave players – East St. John alum Darion Monroe and Xavier Rush – among the league’s first 100 to sign contracts. Former Rummel linebacker Dwayne Eugene, who played collegiate ball at Arkansas, is also among the free agents signed.

The AAF is a new professional league panning to start play in February 2019, one week following the Super Bowl.

Jasper, Jeter, Monroe, Rush and Eugene were all assigned to Memphis because that AAF team has regional rights to LSU, Tulane and Arkansas players.

The AAF consists of eight centrally owned and operated teams, and the management of the league includes former NFL executives, coaches, scouts and players.
