Twelve former Tulane players to take part in Pro Day

Green Wave’s annual pro day will be held at the New Orleans Saints Indoor Facility

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University football team will welcome professional scouts from around the country, as it plays host to its annual Pro Day at the New Orleans Saints Indoor Facility from Noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday.

Former Tulane football players QB Jonathan Banks, P Zachary Block, OL Dominique Briggs, WR Freddie Canteen, WR Terren Encalade, WR Devin Glenn, LB Zachery Harris, OL John Leglue, DB Donnie Lewis Jr., TE Charles Jones II, DB Taris Shenall and DB Roderic Teamer Jr., will all take part in the Green Wave’s Pro Day.

This year’s participants will go through a number of tests inside the weight room and on the field, as they prepare for the upcoming NFL Draft.

The 2019 NFL Draft will be held on April 25-27 in Nashville, Tennessee.

2018: Made seven starts during the regular season…Finished the regular season with 1,074 yards passing, five touchdowns and just two interceptions…He also rushed for 120 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns…Opened the year on a high note as he passed for 281 yards and a pair of touchdowns against Wake Forest…Went 12 of 16 for 190 yards in a win over Nicholls State…Tossed a pair of touchdowns against UAB.

Zachary Block | P | 6-5 | 200 | Clermont, Fla. | East Ridge
2018: Suited up in all 13 of Tulane’s games as the team’s punter in his senior year…Recorded a season-high 54 yard punt on the road against UAB…Notched 58 kickoffs for the Green Wave, averaging 62.7 yards, and recorded 35 touchbacks…Tallied 28 total punts, averaging 38.3 yards…Placed 13 of his punts inside the 20-yard line.

Dominique Briggs | OL | 6-3 | 295 | Tulsa, Okla. | Coffeyville CC
2018: Played and started in all of Tulane’s 13 games in his senior season…Earned one solo tackle on the road against UAB.

Freddie Canteen | WR | 6-1 | 195 | Elkton, Md. | Eastern Christian High School
2018: Sat out the entire season after he suffered an injury in preseason camp.

Terren Encalade | WR | 6-0 | 190 | East Pointe a la Hache, La. | Belle Chasse
2018: Was one of just eight players to start in every game…Finished the season with a single season high 44 receptions…He also totaled 727 yards and five touchdowns…Caught a pass in every game during the year…Opened the year on a high note as hauled in a pair of touchdown receptions against Wake Forest and finished with 189 yards receiving…Hauled in four receptions for 62 yards at Ohio State…Surpassed 2,000 career receiving yards following a 73-yard touchdown reception against ECU…Closed the year on a high note in the AutoNation Cure Bowl, as he scored a touchdown and posted game highs in receptions (five) and yards (93).

Devin Glenn | RB | 5-7 | 160 | New Orleans, La. | Warren Easton
2018: Appeared in 12 games and saw a majority of his action on special teams…Finished the year with a four tackles on special teams…Closed out the year with two tackles on special teams in the bowl game.

Zachery Harris | LB | 6-0 | 220 | New Orleans, La. | Holy Cross
2018: Started in all of Tulane’s games as a redshirt senior…Captured Second Team All-American Athletic Conference honors…Earned a season-high 13 tackles on the road against Cincinnati and Houston…Led the Green Wave with 95 total in 2018…Recorded 1.5 sacks for a total loss of seven yards this season…Caught an interception against USF for a gain of 12 yards…Recovered a fumble in the Green Wave’s season opener against Wake Forest…Closed out his career with a team-high eight tackles and tallied 1.5 sacks to lead the Green Wave to a 41-24 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette in the AutoNation Cure Bowl.

John Leglue | OL | 6-7 | 310 | Alexandria, La. | Holy Savior Menard Central High
2018: Has started every game for the Green Wave as Tulane’s primary right guard…Served as a team captain for the season opener against Wake Forest (August 31) and the season finale against Navy (November 24)…Helped Tulane’s excellent running game that has averaged more than 200 yards per contest and helped protect quarterbacks Jonathan Banks and Justin McMillan.

Donnie Lewis Jr. | CB | 6-0 | 195 | Baton Rouge, La. | Central
2018: Earned Second Team All-American Athletic Conference honors…Was one of just eight players to start in every regular season game…Finished fifth on the team in total tackles with 56 stops…Led the team with three interceptions…Recorded his first career interception return for touchdown against SMU from 49 yards out…Tied a career high with six pass breakups against ECU…Tied a career with eight tackles twice this season…Closed out his career with one pass breakup and two tackles to help lead the Green Wave to a 41-24 win over Louisiana-Lafayette in the AutoNation Cure Bowl.

Charles Jones II | TE | 6-4 | 255 | New Orleans, La. | St. Augustine
2018: Played in all but three games for Tulane during his final year with the team…Had the biggest moment of his career in the season finale against Navy (November 24) when he caught the game-winning two-point conversion to clinch bowl eligibility for the Green Wave…Had two catches for 11 yards against Memphis (September 28)…Brought in two catches for one yard at Cincinnati (October 6)…Had one catch for 11 yards at Tulsa (October 27)…Also snagged a pass at USF for seven yards (November 3)…Had his first catch of the season against Nicholls for three yards (September 8)…Was a starting tight end for Tulane in four games…Served as a team captain for the game at Tulsa…Had one catch for 15 yards in the AutoNation Cure Bowl.

Taris Shenall | S | 6-0 | 195 | Marrero, La. | John Ehret
2018: Appeared in all 13 games and started at Ohio State…Finished the regular season with 18 tackles (12 solo)…Recorded his lone interception of the season at Houston…Closed out the regular season on a high note against Navy as he tallied nine tackles (six solo)…Made one stop in the Green Wave’s win over Louisiana-Lafayette in the Cure Bowl.

Roderic Teamer Jr. | S | 6-0 | 205 | New Orleans, La. | Brother Martin
2018: Earned Second Team All-American Athletic Conference honors…Was one of just eight players to start in every regular season game…Finished second on the team in tackles with 72…He also totaled six pass breakups and one interception…His 67 stops during the regular season tied his single-season career high…Totaled 10 tackles at Tulsa and home against ECU…Earned AAC Defensive Player of the Week honors following his performance against ECU…Closed out his career with five tackles (three solo) and one tackle for loss in the Green Wave’s win over Louisiana-Lafayette in the AutoNation Cure Bowl.
