Bonnette Field

LAKE CHARLES – Turf for the new Louis Bonnette Field at McNeese’s Cowboy Stadium is expected to start going down either Friday or Saturday, McNeese Director of Athletics Bruce Hemphill stated.

Once the process begins, crews will work seven days a week until the project is complete, which is expected to be sometime in the early part of May.

It was erroneously reported on Wednesday that the stadium will be open to fans to view the process. That, however, will not be the case.

According to Richard Rhoden, McNeese’s Director of Facilities, Hellas, who is the contractor for the project, holds the insurance policy for the construction and it doesn’t cover the general public. So to avoid liability issues, the Cowboy Stadium will remain closed until the project is complete.

McNeeseSports.com will post photos and video throughout each day while the turf is being put into place.
