NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men’s basketball associate head coach Ray McCallum was named to the 2022 Men’s Induction class this week by the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.

McCallum, who has served as the Green Wave’s associate head coach since the start of the 2019-20 campaign, received the Hall of Fame nod after he posted a standout career during his time as a high school player, a collegiate student-athlete and his contributions as a head coach.

“I could not be more excited for this wonderful recognition,” McCallum said. “To be inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and to be forever linked with some of the greatest players our game has to offer is incredibly humbling. I would like to thank my teammates, my coaches and most importantly my family for providing me with platform to excel both on and off the court.”

McCallum was a member of the 1978 Muncie Central state championship team and a starter on the 1979 state title team, named tournament MVP.

During his career at Ball State, McCallum scored 2,109 points which resulted in school and Mid-American Conference records. In 1983, he was selected as the MAC player of the year, averaging 20.7 points per game as he was named the winner of the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award for the best college player under 6-foot. His jersey No. 10 was retired by Ball State.

As a head coach, McCallum coached Ball State from 1993-2000, leading the Cardinals to two NCAA tournament appearances.

The induction ceremonies will be held at the annual awards banquet on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at the Primo Banquet Hall in Indianapolis.
