NEW ORLEANS – For the third time this year, Tulane senior guard Kolby Morgan was honored by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association when she earned the group’s Player of the Week recognition on Tuesday morning.

Morgan was previously named the LSWA Player of the Month for November and the Player of the Week in late December for her Tulane Classic MVP performance that week.

This week, Morgan had back-to-back 30-point games in a win at Tulsa on Wednesday and a defeat against Houston on Saturday. Morgan combined for 18 rebounds and 12 assists during the week – setting a new career high with nine assists against the Cougars – and nearly missed a triple-double on Saturday when she also had nine rebounds to go along with her 30 points and nine assists in a career-high 44 minutes.

During the week, Morgan shot 20 of 35 from the field (57.1 percent) and recorded back-to-back 30-point games for the first time in her career.

Morgan is now just 14 points shy of 2,000 in her career and could eclipse that threshold on Saturday when the Green Wave hosts Wichita State at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse at 2:30 p.m. Morgan would become just the third player in team history with 2,000 career points.
