NEW ORLEANS – For the third consecutive season, Tulane University Athletics will partner with high schools throughout the New Orleans community as it will feature nine exciting prep football games that will be played inside Yulman Stadium.

The nine prep games this fall will be the most at Yulman Stadium since the venue began playing host to high school football contests in 2017.

“We could not be more thrilled to welcome local high school football teams back to Yulman Stadium,” said Director of Athletics Troy Dannen. “To have the ability to host area teams inside Yulman Stadium was always the vision when the venue was first contemplated and to see this tradition continue will be a tremendous asset for our Tulane community.”

The nine games inside Yulman Stadium will feature the following matchups: Holy Cross vs. St. Thomas More (Sept. 6), Country Day vs. Newman (Sept. 27), St. Augustine vs. John Curtis (Sept. 28), Brother Martin vs. St. Augustine (Oct. 4), John Curtis vs. Jesuit (Oct. 18), Holy Cross vs. John Curtis (Oct. 25), John Curtis vs. Brother Martin (Nov. 8). Yulman Stadium also will play host to a pair of Louisiana High School Athletic Association playoff games on Nov. 15 or 16 and on Nov. 29 and 30.

Yulman Stadium, the crown jewel of the university’s athletics complex, opened its doors for the first time in front of a capacity crowd on September 6, 2014 against Georgia Tech. Yulman Stadium marked the beginning of a renaissance of Tulane Athletics, which saw Green Wave football return to campus for the first time in nearly 40 years.

Tulane’s new homefield advantage came from the generosity of three couples in particular:  Richard Yulman and his late wife Janet; Gayle and Tom Benson; and Jill and Avie Glazer.

High school football games being held on Tulane’s campus had been a weekly tradition on the Uptown campus with contests being played in historic Tulane Stadium. Tulane’s high school football tradition returned on Sept. 8, 2017 with the matchup with St. Augustine vs. De La Salle matchup, which marked the first prep game on the Uptown campus since Nov. 3, 1979 when Chalmette took on Jesuit.
