NEW ORLEANS, La. – In 1979, the Tulane baseball team made history by winning the Metro Conference Tournament and qualifying for a regional for the first time in program history. That team will reunite this Saturday at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium with a host of activities planned as the Green Wave take on the USF Bulls at 2 p.m.

Led by head coach Joe Brockhoff, Tulane won 35 games in 1979 and reeled off four straight wins in the Metro Tournament at Florida State, knocking off the host Seminoles in the finals to claim the title and qualify for the NCAA South Regional in Starkville, Mississippi.

With a host of former players and coaches returning to campus for the event, Saturday will see that team get together before the game with a tailgate event, before moving inside the stadium where the group will be presented pregame during a special ceremony. There will be a wealth of in-game elements recognizing the team and their accomplishments from that year, as fans will be able to pick up a 1979 team poster that day.

Tulane’s three-game series against USF begins Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
