Jaylen Miller Tulane transfer

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane football coach Willie Fritz announced the signing of Duke graduate transfer offensive lineman Jaylen Miller for the 2020 season.

Miller played in nine games for the Blue Devils last season. He was part of an offensive line unit that ranked fifth in the ACC in sacks allowed and 15th nationally in tackles for loss allowed. The Jacksonville, Florida, native helped Duke average 329.7 yards per game and score 37 total touchdowns. His offensive line was named to the midseason honor roll for the Joe Moore Award for the most outstanding offensive line in college football.

In 2018, Miller played in seven games and made three starts for the Blue Devils before a season-ending injury sidelined him. He played a part in Duke totaling 40+ points in five games, which matched the program record for most in a season. As a redshirt sophomore, Miller assisted the Blue Devils in producing three 200-200 outings as Duke posted 200+ rushing and 200+ passing yards versus N.C. Central, Pittsburgh and North Carolina.

He was named the program’s 2016 Sonny Falcone Iron Duke Award winner, an honor presented annually to one offensive player, one defensive player and one player in the development program for the year-round commitment to strength training and conditioning.

Prior to heading to Duke, Miller was a four-year letterman at Providence High School under head coach Jeff Kopp. He was named a four-star prospect and the No. 25 rated offensive guard in the nation by ESPN.com. Miller took part in the 2016 Blue-Grey All-American Bowl.

The Green Wave are scheduled to kickoff the 2020 season against Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday, September 3.
