Green Wave quarterback helped guide the Green Wave to their fifth bowl in program history in 2018

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University football senior quarterback Justin McMillan has been named to the 2019 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list, the organization announced Monday afternoon.

The award is presented annually by A.O. Smith and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation to the top senior quarterback in the nation who demonstrates character, citizenship and scholastic achievement.

McMillan is one of 49 quarterbacks to have made the list and is one of seven representing the American Athletic Conference.

The list of candidates will be reduced in the coming months, with a winner set to be picked fol-lowing the completion of the regular season.

The Cedar Hill, Texas, native finished the 2018 season with 1,304 yards passing and 10 touchdowns, posting a 5-1 record as a starter. McMillan threw for a season-high 372 yards and three touchdowns in Tulane’s win over ECU and helped guide the Green Wave to their fifth bowl win in program history to close out the season.

Tulane opens the 2019 season on Thursday, August 29 at home against FIU with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. The Green Wave are coming off a memorable 2018 campaign that was highlighted by a win in the AutoNation Cure Bowl and an American Athletic Conference West Division Co-Championship.
