NEW ORLEANS – For the second time in three seasons, the Tulane University football team will send two former student-athletes to the National Football League Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. The event will span seven days from Feb. 24 to March 1.

Defensive back Thakarius Keyes and wide receiver Darnell Mooney were two of 337 prospects that were invited to take part in the annual NFL showcase at Lucas Oil Field.

Keyes, who started every game during the regular season, earned a spot in the NFL Combine following an impressive senior season where he posted a single-season career high with 47 tackles. His five pass breakups were tied for second on the team. He also collected one interception on the year.

Mooney will head to Indianapolis after a 2019 season where he led the Green Wave in receiving yards for the second straight year. The Alabama native, who was the last recruit to sign with the Green Wave as a freshman in 2016, closed his collegiate career on a high note as he surpassed 600 yards receiving for the second straight year.

The last time Tulane sent a pair of former players to the NFL Combine was when former cornerback Parry Nickerson and former defensive lineman Ade Aruna were in attendance back in 2018.
