Tulane appeared to be losing its top returning defensive lineman.

Starting junior nose tackle Jeffery Johnson entered the transfer portal, Rivals first reported Wednesday. However, by Friday the same outlet reported Johnson has changed his mind.

The 6-foot-3, 330-pound native of Brookhaven, Miss. had 33 tackles, 3.5 sacks, six tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries in 12 starts last season.

With star defensive linemen Cam Sample and Patrick Johnson moving on to the NFL as draft picks, the Green Wave will be rebuilding at a previous position of strength up front on defense.
