Kody Hoese

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Tulane’s Kody Hoese was one of 18 players added to the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Midseason Watch List the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation announced Monday morning.

Hoese joins fellow Green Wave teammates Jonathon Artigues and Grant Mathews who were both named to the watch list at the start of the season. It’s the fourth midseason nod for the junior infielder, who has been named a midseason first team All-American by D1 Baseball and by Perfect Game/Rawlings, while also being selected to the USA Baseball 2019 Golden Spikes Award list as well.

Through 39 games Hoese leads the Tulane baseball team with a .415 average, accounting for 68 total hits which include 15 doubles and 20 home runs. The home runs are tied for the lead nationally, with his 143 total bases and 55 runs scored also ranking highly nationally.

Hoese has produced multiple hits 20 times this season, including becoming the first player since 2013 to earn five hits in a game. He currently leads the team with 15 multi-RBI games, which is five more than any other player on the squad.

His 19-game hitting streak is still the longest for any Tulane player this season, as Hoese has reached base in 31 consecutive games.

The award, created by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation, was open to nominations from all Division I baseball programs in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and New Mexico. The Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Watch List now includes 48 players from 29 programs.

The BBCSA will announce finalists for the award in May. The winner of the third annual Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award presented by SR Bats will be announced in June and honored at a gala in the fall.

Tulane returns to action on Tuesday, hosting the Southeastern Louisiana Lions at 6:30 p.m. at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
