Hot-shooting Tulane handles cold UNO in one-sided renewal of rivalry

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers (1-4) were defeated by a hot-shooting night from the Tulane Green Wave (5-2) in a 90-37 loss on Wednesday evening at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse.

Tulane shot 63.8 percent from the field and had 22 assists on their 37 made baskets. Three Tulane players landed in double figures.

The Privateers opened with a corner three from Kyla Davis but Tulane shortly after went on a 13-0 run to gain a double digit lead in the first quarter. New Orleans responded with five straight points and exited the first 10 minutes trailing 20-12.

It was Tulane’s hot shooting from the perimeter that helped them gain more distance on the lead. The Green Wave were ahead by 22 at halftime on the strength of six made triples. Three of those came from Marta Galic who finished with a game-high 18 points.

INSIDE THE BOX
Nora Francois led the Privateers with eight points and six rebounds. Tomyree Thompson came off the bench to add six points. New Orleans forced 20 turnovers on the night. Tiana Gipson had a team-high three assists.

Dynah Jones (17) and Amira Mabry (14) were the other Tulane players in double figures on the night.

NEXT UP
The Privateers will head to Kansas to face Wichita State on Saturday. Tip is scheduled for 2 p.m.
