Tulane hammers Memphis in shortened game on Senior Day
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University baseball team took game three in the weekend series over Memphis by way of an 11-1. The clubs took to Greer Field at Turchin Stadium on Saturday for the last game of the 2022 regular season.
The long ball was the push in today’s offensive showing. Tulane sent five balls out of the park in just five innings of work. Bennett Lee, Gavin Schulz and Simon Baumgardt each had one, while Luis Aviles grabbed two. Lee led the Green Wave at the plate with three hits, two with extra bases, and two RBI.
Right-handed pitcher Carter Robinson got the win moving to 3-4 on the year with 5.0 innings of work, no earned runs, three hits, three strikeouts and only two walks.
Tulane scored multiple runs in three different innings to total 11. Robinson only saw 20 batters in his 5.0 innings.
Lee started the surge with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first. Five pitches later Aviles sent his first of the day over the right-center fence.

The defense wasn’t on the field long retiring six straight Tigers in the second and third innings.
The Green Wave scored five runs on four hits at the bottom of the third as Baumgardt, Hart, Schulz and Lee all picked up hits. Baumgardt and Schulz picked up a combined four RBI with two long balls.
The Green Wave weren’t finished yet, they picked up another three in the bottom of the fourth.
The Tigers would string together a couple of free passes and a single to pick up its only run of the day in the top of the fifth.
Tulane grabbed the win after the game was called in the bottom of the fifth for inclement weather in the area.
