NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University football head coach Willie Fritz announced today the promotion of Jake Stone, as the team’s new Defensive Analyst.

Stone, who has three degrees from Tulane, is no stranger to the team, as he has operated in several capacities with the program since 2012.

“To be able to continue working with our players, coaches and staff at my alma mater is truly a dream come true,” Stone said. “I can’t thank Coach Fritz enough for the opportunity he has provided me and I look forward to continuing to build our program into a championship contender for years to come.”

The Cleveland, Ohio, native began his stint as a graduate assistant in 2016 where he would spend one year, serving as a recruiting graduate assistant. During the past three seasons, Stone has worked as the team’s defensive graduate assistant.

During the 2018 and 2019 seasons, Tulane’s defensive unit has ranked among the top five in the American Athletic Conference leaders in scoring defense and rushing defense. In addition, Stone helped direct Tulane’s 2018 defensive unit to record 41 sacks.

Stone also has played a key role in developing nine players into AAC all-conference performers over the past two years.

Stone was a three-year letterman at University School where he played wide receiver and safety and helped his team to consecutive playoff berths in his junior and senior seasons. Stone was also a three-year letterman in basketball and track.

Since stepping on campus as a freshman in 2012, Stone has earned a Bachelor of Science in Management, a Master’s of Liberal Arts and a Master’s of Business Administration.
