Tulane films Melvin Frazier NBA Draft Day experience in three-part series

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Athletics will debut a three-part series “Making Waves: Westbank Louisiana to the NBA” providing a behind-the-scenes look at the roots of men’s basketball star Melvin Frazier’s upbringing to his selection in the 2018 NBA Draft.

The first episode will be released on Monday, June 25 at 6 p.m. (CT) on the Tulane Athletics Twitter (@TulaneAthletics), Facebook (@TUGreenWave) and Instagram (@TulaneGreenWave) pages, with the second and third shows being unveiled on Tuesday and Wednesday at the same time, respectively.

An Avondale, Louisiana native, Frazier was the No. 35 overall pick in the draft by the Orlando Magic – the highest ever by a Green Wave player in the modern era of the annual event. He’s the 20th player in program history to be chosen and the first since Tulane Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Jerald Honeycutt in 1997.

In three seasons at Tulane, Frazier scored 997 points after completing an impressive junior campaign in 2017-18 where he was named American Athletic Conference Most Improved Player of the Year and voted to the The American’s All-Conference Second Team. The 6-6 guard led the league in steals (65), ranked second in field goal percentage (.556), fourth in scoring (15.9), fifth in minutes per game (34.4) and 12th in rebounding (5.6). His 65 steals were the fifth most in a single season in program history and the most by a Tulane player in 21 years.
