Tulane to take part in American Athletic Conference Football Media Days
Annual event to take place in Newport, Rhode Island
NEW ORLEANS – Members from the Tulane University football team will be traveling North to Newport, Rhode Island, to take part in the 2019 American Athletic Conference Media Days at Gurney’s Newport Resort and Marina.
Representing the Green Wave in the Ocean State will be senior running back Darius Bradwell, senior safety P.J. Hall, junior defensive end Patrick Johnson and fourth-year head coach Willie Fritz.
Johnson enters the year after he posted a breakout sophomore campaign in 2018, registering 10.5 sacks. He also became just the third player in program history to finish a season with double-digit sacks. His 10.5 sacks were tied for 13th nationally and tied for the most among all sophomores. Following the season, he was one of just 11 sophomores to have been selected to The American’s All-Conference team.
Bradwell comes into his senior season after he finished the year with a team-best 1,174 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Tallahassee, Florida, native was one of the Green Wave’s most consistent scoring threats a year ago, as he scored touchdowns in seven straight games and nine of Tulane’s 13 games. Bradwell also played a key role in the Green Wave’s 41-24 bowl victory over UL-Lafayette as he rushed for a career-high 150 yards en route to earning Most Valuable Player honors.
Hall closed 2018 seventh on the team in tackles. He enters his senior season as the team’s top returning tackler at the safety position. The Hoover, Alabama, native also played a key role in helping the Green Wave rank among the nation’s best in passes defensed.
As a team, Tulane enters the 2019 season in the hopes of building off a memorable 2018 campaign that saw the Green Wave win five of their final six games, including the AutoNation Cure Bowl. The Green Wave’s bowl win was their fifth in program history.
The Green Wave will look to appear in back-to-back bowl games for just the second time in program history. The only time Tulane appeared in back-to-back games was during the 1979-80 seasons. Tulane has never won bowl games in consecutive seasons.
