NEW ORLEANS – Tulane football head coach Willie Fritz announced the signing of Florida State graduate transfer defensive back Kyle Meyers on Thursday. Meyers will wear No. 10 for the Green Wave this fall.

Meyers redshirted during the 2019 season. He played in all 12 games and started eight in the 2018 season. As a junior in 2018, the New Orleans native recorded 29 tackles, including 4.0 for loss and 2.0 sacks. He also logged two interceptions, four pass breakups and one forced fumble for the Seminoles. He was one of only three ACC defenders with multiple interceptions and sacks. He opened his junior season with five solo tackles, including 1.0 for loss, and one forced fumble against No. 20 Virginia Tech.

In the 2017 campaign, Meyers played in all 13 games and started against No. 13 Miami and Syracuse. He totaled 26 tackles, 1.0 for loss and one interception. He logged five tackles, 1.0 for loss, and his first career interceptions against Wake Forest. He registered career-highs in tackles at six against Miami and Syracuse in 2017.

Meyers finished the 2016 season with 17 tackles and three pass breakups. He had six tackles in the Seminoles’ come-from-behind victory at NC State.

Meyers arrived in Tallahassee, Florida, after graduating from Holy Cross in New Orleans. He was rated as a four-star cornerback and considered a top 25 cornerback in the nation by all recruiting outlets. The Holy Cross graduate was ranked the No. 15 player in the state of Louisiana by Scout and the No. 17 player by Rivals and 247Sports.

The Green Wave will kickoff its 2020 season on Thursday, September 3, against Southeastern Louisiana inside Yulman Stadium.
