NEW ORLEANS – Tulane and UNO baseball will reinstate the Pelican Cup series this season, featuring a food drive, Most Valuable Player award and a trophy presented to the winner of the season series.

The three-game series between crosstown rivals begins with Tuesday’s 6:30 p.m. contest at Maestri Field on the Lakefront. The final two games will be played April 3 and April 10 Uptown at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

The schools will hold a food drive partnering with Kiwanis Club Dawnbusters to benefit Lantern Light and the local Ronald McDonald House. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to all three games in which they attend. At the entrance gate to both stadiums, boxes for each school will be set up for fans to deposit their non-perishable food items into the box of their favorite team.

Following the April 10 contest, the Pelican Cup trophy will be awarded to the winning team of the season series, and a Most Valuable Player honor will be given to the top Tulane or UNO player in the season series.

Tulane fans who donate non-perishable food items April 3 can receive a voucher for a $5 chairback seat to the April 10 game Uptown. For donating at the April 10 game, Green Wave fans will receive a voucher for a $5 ticket to one game during the ECU series May 4-6 at Turchin Stadium.

Donation boxes will be available near the entrance of Maestri Field Tuesday. Tickets are available by visiting UNOPrivateers.com/tickets or by calling 504-280-GAME (4263).
