Tulane and Northwestern to face off in 2020 and 2025
Green Wave and Wildcats to take part in a home-and home-series
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University and Northwestern University announced today a home-and home-series for the 2020 and 2025 seasons.
“This is a great series for our student-athletes, coaches and fans,” head coach Willie Fritz said. “Both of these universities are world-class institutions located in tremendous cities that will provide a fantastic backdrop for two great games in the coming years.”
The first matchup of the two-game series will be held on Sept. 12, 2020, at Northwestern. The Wildcats will return to Tulane on Aug. 30, 2025 for the Green Wave’s home opener.
“We are excited to add a pair of games against a stellar institution in Tulane,” Northwestern Dan and Susan Jones Family Head Football Coach Pat Fitzgerald said. “We will always aim to provide a world-class experience to our student athletes and look forward to the welcoming Coach Fritz’s program to Chicago, before making a special trip to New Orleans in 2025.”
The Green Wave and Wildcats have faced one another just four times in program history with the last matchup taking place on Oct. 6, 1956 when Tulane earned a 20-13 win on the road in Evanston, Illinois. Tulane owns a 3-1 lead in the all-time series.
To accommodate Tulane’s matchup with Northwestern in 2020, the Green Wave’s previously scheduled matchup at Wake Forest has been pushed back to Sept. 18, 2027 and the Southeastern Louisiana game has been moved to Sept 3, 2020.
