Louisiana native played in 37 career games for the Sooners

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University football announced today the addition of former Oklahoma wide receiver Mykel Jones to its roster as a graduate transfer.

Jones, who graduated from Oklahoma in December, will be able to compete immediately, as he he will take part in spring practice this semester. The Patterson, Louisiana, native saw action in in 37 games throughout his collegiate career and caught 33 passes for 495 yards.

His best season in Norman came in 2017 where he caught 16 passes for 310 yards and one touchdown, as he helped guide the Sooners the College Football Playoff Semifinals against Georgia. As a true freshman in 2016, Jones appeared in 12 games and caught 13 passes for 106 yards.

Off the field, Jones demonstrated a strong work ethic in the classroom, as he was named to the Big 12 Conference All-Academic Team in 2017, earning Second Team honors.

Prior to his arrival in Norman, Jones put together a decorated career at Patterson High School where he earned a four-star rating according to ESPN.

He also was listed as a top 100 recruit in the country and the fourth-best recruit in the state of Louisiana by Rivals.com. Despite battling an injury for the first half of his senior year, Jones finished his high school career with 15 touchdowns over his final two prep seasons.
