Louisiana prep football talent is liberally sprinkled throughout college football. Players have honed their skills on Pelican state turf during their formative years and are now displaying their ability on some of college football’s powerful programs nationwide.

This is a demonstration of some of those individuals outside the state for the current season. This is a king-sized sampling.

LB Garrett Wallow (6-2, 212) Jr. at TCU

Paces the Big 12, third nationally with 48 tackles this season, along with 10 tackles for loss. The former John Curtis Patriots totaled 139 stops his final two seasons there. No. 3 safety in Louisiana in 2017 class.

WR Devonta Smith (6-1, 175, 4.4 speed) Jr. at Alabama

Leads the SEC with 31 grabs for 537 yards and 8 touchdowns. He set a school record with 11 catches for 274 yards and 5 touchdowns last weekend against Ole Miss. He was a 5 star recruit at Amite.

OLB Christopher Allen (6-4, 250) Soph. at Alabama

The Southern Lab product was 2016 Louisiana Defensive Player of the Year in 2016. He has 7 stops and 3.5 tackles for loss this season.

DB Shyheim Carter (6-0, 195) Sr. at Alabama

Tallied 43 tackles, 2 interceptions in 2018. He has 14 tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss this season. He was a four-year starter at Kentwood and the No. 5 ranked athlete in the ’16 class.

LB Christian Harris (6-2, 239) Fr. at Alabama

The Tide’s 5th leading tackler with 24 stops was a 4 star recruit at University High in Baton Rouge.

DT Phidarian Mathis (6-4, 317) Soph. at Alabama.

Made 13 tackles this season; he was an All State performer at Neville in 2016.

CB Eddie Smith (6-0, 190) Soph. at Alabama.

DB Brad Stewart (6-1, 200) Jr. at Florida

Had 41 tackles and 2 picks in ’18, with 8 tackles this season. His senior campaign at McDonogh 35 (2016) he had 111 tackles, 11 interceptions and was named 4A Defensive Player of the Year.

RB Travis Etienne (5-11, 215, 4.32 forty) Jr. at Clemson

He has 462 yards (6.9 average) 5 touchdowns this season. The former Jennings high star had 1,658 yards (8.1 yards/carry) and 24 scores last fall.

DE Chris Turner (6-4, 255) Jr. at Missouri

Has 6 tackles and a pair of sacks in 2019. He was a 3 star prospect at Hammond in 2017.

DE Sci Martin (6-3, 255) Jr. at Missouri

Was a three-year starter at McDonogh 35 and a senior in 2015. He began his career at LSU.

WR Kirk Merritt (6-1, 215) Sr. at Arkansas State

The Destrehan product had 83 grabs for 1, 005 yards and 7 touchdowns last season. He has 26 catches for 312 yards and 5 touchdowns this season.

OG Kirk Kelley (6-4, 320) Sr. at Troy

The former John Ehret star is three-year stater for Trojans. He was All Metro pitcher at Ehret with 2.49 ERA.

Lowell Narcisse (6-3, 230) Soph. at UTSA

Former St. James star has thrown for 133 yards for Roadrunners this season.

WR Tevin Bush (5-6, 163) Jr. at West Virginia

He has 6 catches for 95 yards and 1 score. Prepped at Landry-Walker.

WR Devonta Jason (6-3, 225) Soph. at Mississippi State

Landry-Walker product had two catches for 42 yards in 2018.

QB Keytoan Thompson (6-4, 225) Jr. at Mississippi State. Was Gatorade Player of the Year at Landry-Walker who won a state football title and two basketball state crowns.

CB Cameron Dantzler (6-2, 182) Jr. at Mississippi State

Lockdown cover man with 42 stops and 2 intercepts in ’18, 14 tackles and 1 pick this season. Was QB at St. Thomas Aquinas where he ran for 1,900 yards and 26 touchdowns and passed for 1,381 yards, 11 touchdowns as senior. Added 2 interceptions as DB. Also won state long jump title with 23’3″ effort.

LB Aaron Brule (6-1, 235) Soph. at Mississippi State

The former Rummel star has 2 tackles this season.

WR Michael Young (5-10, 190) Jr. at Notre Dame

Suffered broken collarbone August 18th. While senior at Destrehan had 35 catches, 507 yards and 6 touchdowns.

WR Lawrence Keys (5-10, 173) Soph. at Notre Dame

10.3 hundred meters, 4.35 forty. 7 catches for 70 yards in career with Irish. Was 4 star prospect at McDonogh 35, 4A All State in 2017.

WR Jamal Houston (6-2, 180) Soph. at Riverside Community College

Began career at Colorado State. The former Ehret product is looking at Ole Miss and Southern Miss.

QB Justice McCoy (6-1, 198) Soph. at Colorado State. His senior season at St. Augustine he threw for 1, 543 yards, 11 touchdowns, ran for 634 yards and 15 scores, pacing Knights to 10-3 mark.

RB Darius May (6-1, 195) Holmes Community College, began career at Colorado State. Prepped at McDonogh 35.

QB Travis Mumphrey (6-1, 190) Fr. at UNLV

Was 25-9 as starter at Ehret, 3.5 GPA.

DT Myles Vigne (6-1, 290) Jr. at New Mexico

22 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks in ’18, 8 stops this season. Prepped at Warren Easton.

WR Orlando Bradford (5-8, 206) Sr. at Arizona

Prepped at Calvary Baptist.

DT George Lea (6-3, 284) Sr. at Arizona State

Two-year starter for Sun Devils. 12 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in ’19. Was 51st best DT in 2015 class at Landry-Walker.

CB Jordan Clark (5-10, 170) Fr. at Arizona State.

Jordan’s dad, Ryan Clark, played at LSU and 13 seasons in NFL.

CB Corione Harris (6-1, 180) Soph. at Kansas

13 career starts already for Jayhawks. 10 tackles this season. Was 4 star prospect, 13th best CB at Landry/ Walker.

Michael Lee (5-11, 175) Sr. at Kansas

Lead Big 12 with 3 forced fumbles in 2018. Has 30 tackles this season. Prepped at Landry-Walker.

76 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions for career. Was 4 star recruit at Holy Cross in 2015 where he had 4 interceptions and 11 PBU his senior campaign.

DE Tyrin Ferguson (6-2, 230) Sr. at Nebraska

48 career tackles, 8 tackles for loss and a sack. Was 2014 4A Def. Player of the Year at Edna Karr. He recorded 104 stops, 23.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks.

WR Jeremy Singleton (6-0, 180) Houston

27 catches, 356 yards, 2 touchdowns in his career. Has 8 catches for 71 yards this season. At Brother Martin, he had 50 catches for 993 yards and 16 touchdowns his junior campaign at UH.

LB Bruce Jordan-Swilling (6-1, 225) Jr. at Ga. Tech

WR Kalija Lipscomb (6-1, 201) Sr. at Vanderbilt

Has 174 career catches for 2,113 yards and 21 touchdowns. Was 3 star prospect at Jesuit in 2016. Was twice All State, 120 catches, 2, 025 yards and 25 touchdowns final two seasons with the Blue Jays.
OLB Kenny Hebert (6-4, 223) Jr. at Vandy

31 career tackles, 9 tackles for loss and 5 sacks. His senior season at Holy Cross he recorded 47 tackles, 5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss.

DE Brendon Hayes (6-3, 293) Sr. at UCF

two-year starter, 65 career tackles, 17 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. Senior season at Brother Martin (2014) had 58 tackles, 11 sacks and 3 FF. Also excelled on hardwood.

LB Nathaniel Evans (6-1, 240) Sr. at UCF

164 career tackles with 29 of those stops this season. He also has 4.5 tackles for loss. While at John Curtis had 102 tackles as senior, 114 as junior.

WR Da’Monte Coxie (6-3, 197) Jr. at Memphis

super catching radius, with 111 career grabs, 1, 775 yards and 11 scores. 2018- 72 catches, 1, 174 yards and 7 touchdowns. Prepped at East St. John.

RB Mike Hollins (5-10, 204) Fr. at Virginia

Has 78 rushing yards (7.1 average) 2 touchdowns for Cavs this season. Helped University Lab win 2018 state title with 1,645 rushing yards, 33 touchdowns. Had 237 yards and 4 touchdowns in state championship.

RT Adrian Ealy (6-6, 326) Soph. at Oklahoma

Starter for the Sooners was Class 3A All State at East Ascension as senior.

CB Chanse Sylvie (6-0, 192) Jr. at Oklahoma

6th rated safety in nation while at Calvary Baptist. 4 tackles this season.

RB Noah Cain (5-10, 206) Fr. at Penn State

Baton Rouge native has 103 yards, 4 touchdowns this season. Is cousin of former LSU All American WR Michael Clayton.

LB Scooter Harris (6-0, 245) Sr. at Arkansas

34 tackles this season. Had 118 stops in ’18, 115 the season before. Was 2015 Metro Offensive Player of the Year at John Ehret, running for 1,058 yards and made 83 tackles as LB.

24 tackles this season with 1 interception. Was 4A All State in 2017 at McDonogh 35 after recording 68 tackles, 5 interception, 6 FF and 15 PBU.

4 star prospect at West Jefferson, dad played in NFL.

WR Makiya Tongue (6-2, 210) Fr. at Georgia

4 star at University, 6th overall prospect in ’19 class; his father Reggie played 9 seasons in NFL, 2nd round pick of Chiefs in 1996.

RB Pooka Williams (5-10, 178) Soph. at Kansas

308 yards (4.6/carry) and 1 TD thus far in ’19. Was 2018 Freshman All American after totaling 1,125 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns. 2017 Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year when he ran for 3,118 yards and 37 touchdowns as senior.

two-year starter for Jayhawks is a Warren Easton product.

WR Dylan Charlot (6-0, 193) Sr. at Kansas

140 yards receiving and 1 TD in 2019, 4 star prospect at Patterson was 2015 3A All State. Began college career at Alabama.

DE Reggie Walker (6-2, 250) Sr. at Kansas State

4 year starter, 39 starts, 7 tackles this season. While at Ponchatoula, All State in 2014, 3 star prospect in ’15.

SS/LB Joshua Perry (6-2, 201) Jr. at Memphis
