Top 10-ranked Ragin’ Cajuns to receive increased exposure on ESPN+ platform

LAFAYETTE – For the third consecutive season, a select number of Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Softball home games are set for the national airwaves the Department of Athletics announced on Wednesday with the release of the program’s 2021 television broadcast schedule.

The selected contests are scheduled to air on the ESPN+ platform, which is available online at WatchESPN.com and through the ESPN App.

The ESPN+ coverage will once again include the broadcast partnership of Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame member Dan McDonald and NFCA and Louisiana Sports Hall of Famer Yvette Girouard, for the majority of the broadcasts.

Below is the broadcast schedule:
• Thursday, Feb. 25 vs. Louisiana State – 6:00 p.m. – ESPN+
• Saturday, Mar. 13 vs. Georgia Southern – 12:00 p.m. – ESPN+
• Saturday, Mar. 13 vs. Georgia Southern – 3:00 p.m. – ESPN+
• Sunday, Mar. 14 vs. Georgia Southern – 12:00 p.m. – ESPN+
• Wednesday, Mar. 17 vs. Texas – 4:00 p.m. – ESPN+
• Wednesday, Mar. 17 vs. Texas – 6:30 p.m. – ESPN+
• Wednesday, Mar. 24 vs. Louisiana Tech – 6:00 p.m. – ESPN+
• Tuesday, Apr. 13 vs. Southeastern Louisiana – 6:00 p.m. – ESPN+
• Friday, Apr. 16 vs. Texas State – 6:00 p.m. – ESPN+
• Saturday, Apr. 17 vs. Texas State – 2:00 p.m. – ESPN+
• Sunday, Apr. 18 vs. Texas State – 12:00 p.m. – ESPN+

Game dates and broadcast schedules are subject to change, due to both weather and the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

In cooperation with the Sun Belt Conference and its television partner, ESPN, the Ragin’ Cajuns Department of Athletics will produce more than 60 broadcasts for the ESPN+ platform during the 2020-21 athletic season. During the uniquely challenging era of the coronavirus pandemic, the department’s mission is to provide as many broadcasts as possible for fans and supporters to view from the safety of their homes.

Armed with five seniors utilizing an extra year of eligibility granted by last season’s COVID-19 stoppage of play, along with several key Division I transfers, head coach Gerry Glasco and his staff aim to continue building momentum during the fourth season of his tenure.

Louisiana opens the 2021 season at the UAB Green and Gold Classic which is now scheduled for Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 20-21 at Mary Bowers Field in Birmingham, Alabama, starting with a 12:30 p.m. matchup against Jacksonville State on Saturday, Feb. 20.
