It is a different version of March Madness.

When the LSU Tigers are eliminated, the speculation swirls about the future of head coach Will Wade.

According to a contract revision signed by Wade and LSU two years ago, if any Level I or Level II violations are found by the NCAA, Wade will accept termination while LSU will owe him nothing.

However, Will Wade is owed something.

That is, a decision on his pending case, a resolution by the NCAA’s special committee to investigate complex allegations in Division I.

That is the NCAA’s Independent Accountability Resolution Process.

The IARP was handed the case last August.

Two years ago, Wade initially refused to meet with LSU regarding allegations of alleged payment to guard Javonte Smart, who just finished his third year in the program.

Yahoo Sports was the first to report that Wade was on wiretap saying he made “a strong ass offer” to a high-profile recruit.

LSU, in the midst of a postseason run, held out Smart untill it investigated the allegations.  Smart was reinstated hours before LSU’s first game in the SEC tournament.

At the time, LSU released a statement saying “no wrongdoing was identified, to date.”

Two years have gone by quickly.

In the meantime, Wade has finished off the best three-year stretch of wins by an LSU basketball coach – 68 – since Dale Brown won 69 games from the fall of 1984 to the spring of 1987.

In the upcoming NBA draft, freshman guard Cam Thomas will likely join Ben Simmons as the two Tigers selected in the first round since 2008.

When Wade arrived on campus, he was treated with much fanfare.  He said he had his eye on LSU for a long time.

Wade said he wanted to answer this question: Why hasn’t it been able to be done there consistently?

Wade had answers to make consistent winning happen.

Now, the NCAA has to answer theirs. Starting with, how much longer is this going to going on?

The Trump/Russia Collusion investigation concluded two years after it began.

In 1994, the Clintons were part of an investigation into a land deal that started with a look at some place called Whitewater and ended with the world getting to know a young woman name Monica Lewinsky. The investigation lasted four years.

You would think by the time the summer ends, the NCAA could give Wade their verdict.

Do you have the evidence, or don’t you?

After a year, can you determine that the LSU coach is or is not a cheat?

Whether you think he is one or the other is irrelevant.

Only facts, please.

It is way overdue for the NCAA to deliver.
