The seventh week of the prep football season gets underway with games around Louisiana, including seven involving area teams.

The top game pits St. Charles Catholic at Franklinton. You can watch the game live at CrescentCitySports.com and through the LHSAA App.

The Comets (5-1) have lost only to a very good 5A team in East Ascension and have good wins over De La Salle and Lutcher.

Frank Monica’s team has used three quarterbacks, due to an injury to Justin Dumas with sophomore Zach Vicknair and junior Reid Landeche picking up the torch. Junior Kenneth Gauff has rushed for 340 yards and four touchdowns while senior Philip Tran has rushed for 266 yards and two scores.

Defensively, junior linebacker Mandel Eugene leads St. Charles Catholic with 43 tackles, including six for loss. Eugene has forced a fumble, recovered four fumbles and recorded a sack. Junior Camren Campbell has three interceptions and senior defensive end Eli Ory has five sacks.

The Demons (4-2) have won three straight games. Franklinton handed Belle Chasse its first loss a week ago.

Offensively, Franklinton coach Jonathan Barber has an outstanding senior quarterback on Jasper LaSalle, who has completed 70-of-122 passes for 1,056 yards and seven touchdowns and he has rushed for a score. Despite missing the first three games of the season, senior Mike Martin has rushed for 538 yards and 14 touchdowns in just three games and has a touchdown catch. Junior Caleb Brown has 24 catches for 482 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, senior linebacker Nolan Breland leads the way with 20 tackles, including a sack and a pair of fumble recoveries while senior linebacker Malachi Martin has 19 tackles, including four for loss.
