RUSTON, La. – Perfect Game Baseball named three Diamond Dogs to its Preseason All-Conference USA list – seniors Steele Netterville, Parker Bates and Alex Ray. Not only did Netterville make the All-Conference list, but he was also named the publication’s Preseason Conference USA Player of the Year.

Netterville batted .407 this past season with six home runs and 22 RBI. The Shreveport native ranked second in the C-USA with six home runs, 22 RBI and a .797 slugging percentage in 2020. The senior closed the COVID-19-shortened 2020 campaign on an 11-game hitting streak, recording two hits or more eight times during that stretch.

Netterville led the Bulldogs with 26 extra base hits as a sophomore in 2019, tying for second on the roster with seven home runs.

Bates earns yet another preseason honor after posting a .422/.531/.891 (AVG/OBP/SLG) triple-slash line during the shortened 2020 season. Bates led Conference USA in hits (27), RBI (28), home runs (eight) and slugging percentage (.891) this past season.

Collegiate Baseball named Bates a third-team Preseason All-American in December before tabbing him as the C-USA’s Preseason Player of the Year in January.

Ray earns the preseason honor from Perfect Game after batting .380 with a pair stolen bases in his first season with the Bulldogs in 2020. The former FAU and Tallahassee CC player started 16 games at shortstop this past season, finishing the 2020 campaign with a .981 fielding percentage and five turned double plays.
