NEW ORLEANS – Peyton Manning’s PeyBack Foundation announced that The First Tee of Greater New Orleans was awarded a $10,000 grant to provide after-school and summer camp programs for local youth.

Peyton and Ashley Manning established the PeyBack Foundation in 1999 to promote the future success of disadvantaged youth by assisting programs that provide leadership and growth opportunities for children at risk. The Foundation has become a consistent and viable contributor in Colorado, Indiana, Tennessee, Louisiana and beyond, providing more than $13 million in grants and programs since its inception.

The PeyBack Foundation supports children and families of all backgrounds. The Foundation strives to make opportunities available to children who might not otherwise have the chance to participate and looks strongly upon abused and neglected children, after-school programs, summer camps, and foster children.

The First Tee of Greater New Orleans provides educational programs for young people ages 5-18 that teach character education, life skills and healthy habits, through the game of golf. The First Tee’s goal is for youth who complete their program to develop a plan for college or careers upon graduating from high school on time, with the skills needed to successfully transition to adulthood and the desire to give back and positively transform their communities.

The First Tee strives to engage minorities, females and older teens in the game of golf, eliminating the cost barriers and access associated with the sport. The First Tee will use the grant funds to hire and train new coaches to implement its Life Skills Experience curriculum at local golf facilities.

“We greatly appreciate PeyBack Foundation’s continued support for The First Tee. PeyBack provided us a grant back in 2014 that really helped springboard our revitalization efforts and helped build capacity for our organization’s growth over the past 5 years,” said Chip Patterson, Executive Director of The First Tee of Greater New Orleans. “We look forward to this continued partnership with PeyBack to get more young people outdoors, participating in a sport that they’ll be able to play for an entire lifetime and learning valuable life lessons and healthy habits.”

The First Tee of Greater New Orleans currently impacts over 30,000 young people in the community through its life skills, character education and healthy habits programs provided at local golf facilities, elementary schools and youth serving facilities. The First Tee currently is offering its Spring program session at multiple golf facilities and registration is open for summer camp programs at www.thefirstteenola.org.
