AUSTIN, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers were in the hunt early but the Texas Longhorns scored six runs between the sixth and seventh inning to secure a 9-3 win and the series sweep on Sunday at Disch-Falk Field.

DECISIONS
David Shaw pitched three scoreless innings of relief for his first win of the season. The loss went to Collin Horton who allowed three runs and struck out four batters.

After falling into an early deficit on the back of two solo home runs by Eric Kennedy, the Privateers took patient at-bats in the fourth to work three walks. With the bases loaded, Mitchell Sanford drove a ball deep enough to center to score Kasten Furr.

Dylan Mach then singled up the middle, which scored Tristan Moore to tie the score at 2-2 heading to the bottom of the fourth.

The Longhorns jumped right back on top though when Mitchell Daly homered to left in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Texas stretched out their lead in the sixth inning with two run-scoring singles from Peyton Powell and Garret Guillemette. A sac fly brought in the third run of the inning to extend the Longhorns’ lead to 6-2.

Three more runs went on the board when Dylan Campbell homered to left. The Privateers got a run back after Miguel Useche tripled and scored later on a sac fly from Sanford.
