Team Louisiana wrestlers at Cadet

Team Louisiana sent an elite squadron to the Cadet National Duals. Coaching the team were Rummel assistant coach KeVon Powell, Rummel Hall of Fame inductee Patrick Ritchie and Graham Karwath from East Ascension.

The team finished 4-4 in the Greco Roman Division, showing improvement from last year’s finish. The team emerged victorious against Alabama, South Dakota, Texas and Arkansas.

In the Freestyle Division, Team Louisiana finished 4-3, securing wins against Virginia, North Dakota, North Carolina, and Texas.

Representing the team, area wrestlers included five Archbishop Rummel student-athletes: Landon Modica (88), Liam Ritchie (100), Dominick Durham (106), Dylan Stubbs (126) and Luke Cusachs (152). The Raiders performed very well in the competition.

Modica was awarded a spot on the 16U All-Tournament Greco Roman Team, finishing with an undefeated 8-0 record at 88 pounds.

Dominick Durham finished with an excellent 10-5 overall record in both styles at the duals. In the last dual of the event, Durham defeated a Virginia State Champion, contributing to the team’s strong finish. Durham is expected to be a force for the Raiders next season as they prepare to compete for an LHSAA State Championship.

Jacob Britt (120) competed for Destrehan High School and represented his school admirably against the nation’s best.

Prep wrestlers from Holy Cross and Brother Martin also participated in the duals. Matthew Krail (138) and State Runner-Up Ethan Simmons (220) represented their schools very well. Simmons finished with an overall record of 12-3 in both styles and faced tough competition in preparation for his junior season for the Crusaders.
