TOUGALOO, Miss. – Top seed and tournament-host Tougaloo nearly cracked the century mark in its 99-52 quarterfinal victory over Southern University at New Orleans on Thursday.

The Knights came out hot to start the quarterfinal matchup, looking to topple the tournament’s number one seed in front of a raucous crowd at Kroger Gymnasium. However, the home team Bulldogs used a series of three-pointers to gain the lead, pulling ahead, 22-11, by the midpoint of the first half. Tougaloo continued to surge and expanded its lead to 49-23 heading into halftime.

After the break, TC did not let up. Paced by GCAC Player of the Year Cameron Copeland, the top-seeded Bulldogs continued to distance itself from SUNO. He finished with a game-high 19 points. The Knights were led in scoring by Devin Daniels, who posted 15 points.

No. 1 Tougaloo will face the quarterfinal game winner between #4 Wiley College and #5 Rust College on Saturday, February 25 at 7 p.m. in the semifinals of the 2023 Hope Credit Union GCAC Women’s Basketball Championship.
