The eighth annual Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic has been one of the best prep basketball tournaments in the deep south since its inception in 2011. As part of the growing process, an outstanding element has been added this year.

The first annual Coaches Clinic is set for Friday, Jan. 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the Alario Center, sight of the tournament.

Speakers will include Will Wade of LSU, Mike Dunleavy and Lisa Stockton of Tulane and Mark Slessinger of UNO.

The cost is $20 per person to anyone interested and will include lunch. Coaches of teams participating in the tournament will be admitted free of charge.

“Part of our mission is to promote basketball in the state,” Daniels said. “As part of our first coaches clinic, every coach who speaks on Friday is a veteran of the NCAA tournament as a head coach with the exception of Dunleavy, who has enjoyed enormous success in the NBA.”

Each coach will share their ideas on why and how they have been successful in the profession.

11:00 am Will Wade LSU
11:30 am Mark Slessinger UNO
11:55 am Mike Dunleavy Tulane
12:20 pm Lisa Stockton Tulane
