NATCHITOCHES – Daunte Stuart put himself in the Northwestern State history books Saturday afternoon.

His exploits throughout the week helped him land his first career Southland Conference Hitter of the Week award Monday.

A junior from The Woodlands, Texas, Stuart went 5-for-5 with a school-record-tying three home runs, including a walk-off blast, in Saturday’s 11-10 win against UT Arlington. Stuart added two singles to his three home runs, establishing a new NSU single-game mark of 14 total bases.

Coupled with a 2-for-2, two-walk performance in Tuesday’s win against Stephen F. Austin, Stuart reached base in nine straight plate appearances to start the week. For the week, Stuart batted .727 with six runs scored, three home runs and five RBIs.

He recorded an OPS of 2.314 in his three games to earn Northwestern State’s first SLC Hitter of the Week award since Peyton Davis earned the award March 9, 2020.
