Strachan, Vincent, Joseph, Walters, Chango to speak Tuesday at GNO QB Club

Former New Orleans Saints running back Mike Strachan, LSU assistant director of player personnel Justin Vincent, Tulane offensive analyst Jordy Joseph, West St. John coach Brandon Walters and Country Day coach Joe Chango will be the featured speaker at the weekly meeting of the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at Rock’n’Bowl, 3016 South Carrollton Ave. in New Orleans. There will be a Tulane speaker as well.

Brandon Walters, WSJIn his fifth year at West St. John, Walters has the No. 1 seeded Rams in the state quarterfinals. He guided the Rams to the 1A state championship in 2017 and the semifinals in 2018. Walters served nine years as an assistant at West St. John prior to being named head coach after serving as an assistant at Clark and Lawless.

Joe ChangoIn his fifth season as the head coach at Country Day, Chango has his Cajuns in the semifinals for the second straight year, this time in Division IV. That represents the deepest playoff run in school history. Chango served as offensive coordinator at Jesuit when the Blue Jays won the Division I state title in 2014. The Tulane graduate also coached at De La Salle and St. Charles Catholic previously.

Justin Vincent, LSUA former Barbe star where he was the Louisiana prep player of the year his senior year and a high school All-American, Vincent went on to play at LSU where he was an integral part of a national championship team and was the MVP in the National Championship game when LSU beat Oklahoma 21-14 in the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004. He went on to play four years in the NFL and was part of a Super Bowl championship team with Pittsburgh. Vincent now serves as Assistant Director of Player Personnel at LSU.

A native of New Iberia, Joseph is in his fourth season with the Tulane staff and his eighth year as a member of the football program. Joseph is in his second year serving as an offensive analyst. He currently assists offensive coordinator Will Hall with the team’s offensive game plan and with the team’s practice installation. Joseph played quarterback at Tulane from 2011-15 after starring in high school at New Iberia High.

Mike StrachanAffectionately known as “The Hound,” Strachan played for the New Orleans Saints from 1975-1980, playing in 62 games. He led the Saints in rushing in his rookie season and rushed for 1,902 yards and 14 touchdowns and caught 57 passes as well after earning All-Big Eight honors three times at Iowa State.

The Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club meets each Tuesday (17 weeks) at Rock’n’Bowl through Dec.17, when the club will hold its year-end awards function.

Each week, an R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Prep Player of the Week is chosen, presented by CrescentCitySports.com and NASH ICON 106.1 FM while The King Firm Scholar-Athlete award winner will also be introduced, presented by Friday Night Football from NOLA 38 and WGNO.

A pick-em contest of top college and professional games allows patrons to win prizes from Rock’n’Bowl and Ye Olde College Inn, as well as from the Saints Hall of Fame.

Annual membership to the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club is $50 per person, which includes a discounted $20 lunch from Rock’n’Bowl and Ye Olde College Inn. Non-members are also welcome to attend each week for $30.
