Destrehan, Union Parish, Many, Homer stay on top in their classifications

The Lafayette area is the dominant force in Class 4A.

Perhaps the top three teams in the state are all in that class and all in the Division II select bracket when the playoffs arrive.

St. Thomas More, no stranger to state titles, ascends to the top spot in this week’s Crescent City Sports Class 4A Top 10 rankings for week seven.

Lafayette Christian and unbeaten Teurlings Catholic are next and are very, very close. Teurlings Catholic remained unbeaten with a huge win over defending state champion Westgate.

Lafayette Christian hosts Teurlings Catholic this week in a showdown while St. Thomas More looms later in the season for LCA and Teurlings.

Unbeaten De La Salle is a very close fourth with a punishing run game and good defensive front.

The 5A rankings remain unchanged with Destrehan still on top and Catholic High of Baton Rouge second. Karr remains the most impressive team and is third, due to three forfeit losses. St. Augustine is powerful and fourth with defending state champion Zachary fifth.

Acadiana is sixth with Ruston seventh. John Curtis Christian is eighth and the Patriots face a showdown at Acadiana this week. Unbeatens East St. John and Parkway round out the top 10.
