St. Tammany track and field stars shine at state high school championships

The LHSAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships that were recently held at LSU saw a number of athletes from St. Tammany take home medals.

Pope John Paul’s Senior Peyton Chiasson was named the LHSAA Class 2A Outstanding Athlete for winning the 800 meter and 1600 meter runs and placing second in the 3200 meter run.

The Mandeville High Girls 4 x 800 meter relay broke the Composite State Record with a time of 9:32.62.

In the team scoring for the Women, Christ Episcopal claimed the state title in Class B. First Baptist placed 9th in Class C and Lakeshore also placed 9th in Class 4A.

In the team scoring for the Men, First Baptist placed 8th for Class C, Christ Episcopal finished in 7th for Class B, and Pope John Paul II claimed 4th place.
