St. Paul’s, STM, VC, Episcopal remain on top in state soccer rankings

The top-ranked teams remain the same in the latest Louisiana High School Soccer Coaches Association rankings for Jan. 20-26.

In Division I, St. Paul’s (21-0) remains the unanimous No. 1 team and one of the best teams in the country. Surging Jesuit (14-2-5) is up to second. The Blue Jays have won five straight matches since falling 2-1 to St. Paul’s on Dec. 28. St. Amant is third with Brother Martin moving up to fourth and Dutchtown fifth. Mandeville is tenth.

In Division II, St. Thomas More (12-1-1) is first and the Cougars received five first-place votes. Holy Cross (15-5-3) is second with four first-place votes. The Tigers defeated New Orleans Military & Maritime 5-1 Monday. Beau Chene is third and received the other first-place vote. Ben Franklin is fourth with East Jefferson fifth. Bonnabel is sixth.

Vandebilt Catholic (15-2-8) remains first in Division III with four first-place votes. University High (10-3-2) is a close second with five first-place votes. Loyola Prep is third with Parkview Baptist fourth and Lusher Charter fifth. New Orleans Military & Maritime is eighth with Archbishop Hannan tenth.

Episcopal (9-4-2) tops the Division IV rankings with eight first-place votes. Newman (7-5-3) is second and received a first-place vote with Christ Episcopal (13-1-1) third and receiving the final first-place vote. Catholic of New Iberia is fourth with Pope John Paul II fifth. Country Day is ninth with Northlake Christian tenth.
